Planning to be Vegetarian

If you’re planning on becoming a vegan or just a normal vegetarian, it’s going to be really difficult, especially if you love meats; but, no one said it’s impossible. If you’ve got the right motivation on your side and perseverance within you, you would be able to achieve this task easily.

Are you sure you want to change your diet?

The first thing that you need to ask yourself is whether you’re really sure you want to change your diet? What’s the main reason as to why you want to switch over to a totally vegetarian diet? Is it because you want to end all forms of animal slaughter or are you just looking for a way to save money?

Well, that doesn’t matter a lot, but it does help motivate you a bit. So, think about it and that answer would help you stick to your goals. It could also be environmental issues that have changed your mind. To help you out Goumanida.ca has lots of vegetarian friendly recipes you can enjoy.

Look for support

If you want to successfully switch over, you’re going to need a lot of support on your side and constant reminders that certain food isn’t meant for you. Therefore, tell your family and closest friends that you’re changing your diet.

They’d be able to help you stick to your plan. Also, there are plenty of blogs and websites that are built to help people realize this goal of theirs, so join them and sign up for their forums – you’d never know you may receive a lot of motivation through people you’ve never even met before.

Find substitutes

Now that you’re going to be changing your diet you need to make sure that the food you eat (the vegetarian food) has all the essential nutrients and vitamins as well as proteins that your body needs.

Therefore, before you switch your diet, you need to make sure that you research the various possible foods that you could eat as well as recipes that would make those dishes yummy!

Slow and steady wins the race

Now that you’ve decided that you want to convert to a vegetarian diet, you should not suddenly give up on all forms of non-veg. Instead, start slow; reduce the number of days in a week that you consume non-veg and then the amount that you eat. If you do this you won’t feel the heat. However, if you skip it all of a sudden you would not be able to last long and you’d give up on your quest.

Raw Food for the Better

More and more people are hearing about the many health benefits of eating raw foods. Raw foods are foods that have not been cooked and are natural, some examples are fruits, vegetables, meats, nuts, and other delicious gourmet foods  While this may seem like it is limiting your eating options, there are several great foods that taste great and are great for you. If you are interested in losing weight and living much better, than eating all natural foods should be considered.

The first benefit to eating whole grown foods is the natural energy you get throughout the day. Before eating only raw foods, I would need to drink a couple of coffee in the morning or I could not function at all and would drink several cups throughout the day. However, by eating many fruits, vegetables, and meats the natural sugar and energy keeps me satisfied and more alert and awake then I ever had. Also, you will never feel bloated after eating raw foods and everything you consume will be converted into energy and be used to power your body. You should treat your body like a engine and you must use the right fuel.

Another benefit to enjoying natural foods is the most popular and that is losing weight. You body was not meant to consume so many preservatives that are in popular food and eating only foods that are natural is the way are body were supposed to be used. I have tried many different exercise and weight loss routines and healthy foods and exercising once a day works wonders. Another great benefit is that you will start seeing weight loss immediately as long as you stick to only eating raw foods. This can not be stressed enough, the raw foods weight loss system will only work if you only eat all healthy foods! So many people try to cheat by eating fast food and this can be detrimental to the process.

The third benefit to eating all natural foods is how easy your digestion system works once consuming natural foods. If you have had stomach and digestion issues in the past, eating healthy foods will clear this up and make it much easier to go to the bathroom.

While many people may be skeptical, I challenge you to partake on the eating healthy foods diet for 30 days and see how it works. You will not only have more energy, but lose a ton of weight and also have a much healthier digestion system.

Beautiful Coffee

Many of us rely on a cup coffee to get our day underway and although fabulous to drink, coffee has also has many other uses. Never discard your used coffee grounds, as there’s a host of different ways to utilise them. Use your grounds in the garden, around the house and even for skin care.
Coffee is a great addition to any beauty regime and provides great results for the condition and appearance of skin. Rich in anti-oxidants, coffee helps repair damaged skin cells and aids anti-ageing. Homemade coffee beauty recipes can also save you a fortune as we all know that branded creams, lotions and potions can be expensive. Try this recipe for homemade coffee exfoliating scrub. Exfoliation forms part of many our daily routines, removing dead skin cells to reveal fresh new skin beneath. I believe that coffee makes the best exfoliating scrub. As coffee contains caffeine it has benefits not shared by other exfoliants. Coffee body scrubs are invigorating, helping you to wake on those difficult mornings. The caffeine in coffee is also vasorestrictive, meaning it shrinks blood vessels. This helps improve the appearance of varicose and thread veins. Coffee can also help redistribute fat beneath the surface of the skin, to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Try recycling your coffee grounds in this simple coffee exfoliating scrub recipe to leave your skin revitalised, dewy and baby soft.
What you’ll need:Coffee grounds, Olive or jojoba oil as liquid base
The above healthy gourmet recipe is for normal skin types. Apricot kernel oil is recommended for oily skin and if you suffer from acne or inflamed skin opt for anti-inflammatory oil such as soy or grape seed as your liquid base.
How to prepare: Mix 2 parts coffee grounds with 1 part liquid base (the oil that best represents your skin type) in a jar and stir thoroughly with a spoon.
How to use: Apply to the face and body using circular motions. Leave for 2-3 minutes then rinse skin thoroughly.
Storage: Keep your homemade coffee exfoliating scrub in the fridge when you are not using it ensuring the jar or container is sealed. Your coffee body scrub should last approximately 4 weeks when stored correctly.
For additional benefits try adding one or more of the following to your coffee exfoliating scrub:
1 Tablespoon finely ground sugar – helps to remove even more dead skin cells
1 Tablespoon finely ground sea salt – helps to tighten and firm the skin
3 drops of Vitamin E – helps to moisturise the skin and improve elasticity

Pudding with Apples

Made with layers of cinnamon raisin bread, Granny Smith apples and raisins, this apple bread pudding recipe adapted from The Artful Palate is a real comfort food that makes a scrumptious breakfast or luscious dessert. Top it with whipped cream or custard or serve with vanilla ice cream for a full on decadent treat. It is excellent for afternoon tea or coffee. You can also make this recipe with day old bread or sourdough bread. Crusty bread makes a more scrumptious bread pudding with a crispy crust around the edges after it is baked.

A bread-based simple gourmet dessert, brad pudding is soft and moist and is a popular dish in many countries including the southern United States, Argentina, Malta, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Belgium, France, Great Britain, and Ireland. There is no fixed simple gourmet recipe for making bread pudding and the dish can vary from country to country and even from kitchen to kitchen. In this recipe, sliced raising bread is enhanced with a mixture of eggs, milk, sugar, pure vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter. Sliced apples and raisins are alternately layered with the bread to make a sumptuously textured, wonderfully flavored and irresistibly aromatic dish.

The bread soaks up the flavorful and aromatic liquid and transforms into a wonderful pudding as it bakes. Bread pudding can be served as is or it can be topped with a sweet sauce to make it even more luscious. Aside from whipped cream, custard, or ice cream, bread pudding can also be topped with caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, rum sauce, or whisky sauce, vanilla cream or sprinkled with powdered sugar and served warm in slices or squares. For breakfast, apple bread pudding is delicious with maple syrup and enjoyed like pancakes or French toast. Indulge in bread pudding with some bacon, ham, or country sausages for a full and satisfying breakfast.

Ingredients

1 loaf cinnamon raising bread
8 eggs
2 cups milk
1/2 cup + ½ cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
4 Granny Smith apples
1 cup golden raisins
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 tablespoons butter

1. The day before you wish to serve the apple bread pudding, butter a 2 quart baking dish. Line some of the bread slices along the sides and bottom of this dish, trimming the bread pieces as necessary so they don’t overlap. Be sure to leave a little bread poking above the rim of the dish.

2. Beat the eggs in a large mixing bowl. Stir in the milk, ½ cup of sugar, and the vanilla. Pour half this mixture into the bread-lined dish.

3. Place a layer of apple slices over the milk mixture, sprinkle some the golden raisins over this, then top with a layer of bread slices. Alternate layers of apples, raisins, and bread slices until the dish is filled. End with a layer of bread.

4. Place the baking dish on a baking tray, then pour the remaining milk mixture over the last layer of bread.

5. Stir together the cinnamon, nutmeg, and ½ cup sugar in a small bowl. Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the bread pudding. Cover and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 6 hours.

6. The following day, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Remove the chilled dish from the refrigerator, uncover, and place directly in the oven. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream.

Wine for Women

There has to be nothing more divine after a stressful work day, than to pour a glass of red wine. Red wine has been scientifically proven to prevent heart disease, some cancers, eases the symptoms of arthritis and just tastes delightful! In the search of a fabulous bottle of wine, there are some considerations to keep in mind. This prevents a scrunched face of disapproval.

Taste Test

It’s understandable, you need to have your wrist twisted to get out there and taste test. Honestly, it is the best way to select what you like. This will determine if you enjoy fruity and fresh or more musky and rich. Take a moment to gather your girlfriends and schedule a wine testing.

Smell Test

Like anything in life, you need to guarantee you will enjoy the taste somewhat. And, like most anything where there is good, there is bad. No gasping! Yes, bad wine does exist! If in a restaurant, ask to smell the cork. No worries, you simply look like a grandiose wine connoisseur. Smelling the cork helps to determine if the wine was stored poorly or just a product of terrible wine-making. Smelling the cork helps to determine if 2 4 6- Trichloroanisole exists. Was that a mouthful? For pronunciation sake, call it TCA.

TCA is basically a powerful chemical that exists in natural corks which can ruin a good bottle of wine. It’s rare but does exist. The chemicals can include chlorine, mold and other chemicals from plants called phenol. While it is safe overall to ingest, it just isn’t tasty and causes the scrunchy face. If the wine was promised to be fruity or rich and it just tastes flat or “corky” it may be a victim of TCA.

Travel Globally, Locally

Regions have an influential role in how wine tastes as well. Know what country to select from when you visit your local grocer or restaurant. French reds are very diverse, and they develop sweeter bases like Sherry. If you prefer a larger base of sweet wines visit the Portugal menu of Baga, Tinto Cao or Periquita.

Granted, there are also amazing wines stemming from the US, especially California, Washington and Oregon and Zinfandel is a delightful sweet. Sample France for dry wine selections such as Merlot, Caberney Sauvignon or Malbec. Spain’s Tempranillio and California’s Pinot Noir’s are also delightful. From Spain, Argentina, Italy, Germany and the United States, travel globally within a wine glass.

The Final Word

Explore your senses and taste buds when discovering the world of wine. Visit local wine flights, wine tastings and explore what you like. It is a fantastic time to spend time with your girlfriends. In addition, you can learn to pair reds with dishes like pasta, dessert and even, yes! Chocolate.
